Andrzej Karałow / Jérôme Noetinger / New Vinyl: L’ivresse transfigurée (2025)
L’ivresse transfigurée is a remarkable album by the duo Andrzej Karałow (piano and echo) and Jérôme Noetinger (Revox B77, electronics). Released by Ośrodek Rozdroża / Crossroads Centre, the album is now available in regular distribution.
Project & Artist Background
- Andrzej Karałow – born in 1991 in Poland, a pianist recognized in both classical and experimental improvisation scenes; multiple competition laureate.
- Jérôme Noetinger – French electroacoustic artist, member of the Metamkine and Le Un collectives, an expert in reel-to-reel tape manipulation.
- The project was initiated by Grzegorz Paluch, who proposed combining piano and experimental electronics to create a unique tension between acoustic sound and tape-based transformation.
Recording & Production
The recordings took place in May 2024 in Andrzej Karałow’s home studio. Igor Szymański handled the recording, mixing, and mastering process. The vinyl edition was released on high-quality pressing, in a limited run.
Album Structure
The album consists of six tracks, each ranging from approximately 4½ to 10 minutes, with a total runtime of over 40 minutes:
- Le rythme de la beauté – 10:26
- Les soulèvements de la terre – 6:41
- No lux – 4:27
- Le déterminisme des habitudes – 7:22
- L’unité d’une intrigue – 7:36
- Paysages de lumière – 5:21
Each track is a colorful fusion of piano phrasing and tape-electronic manipulation—from delicate repetitions and chromatic echoes to sensorial soundscapes.
Sound & Artistic Vision
According to the artists, the piano “is transformed in the gears of the tape machine,” which “multiplies and distorts its sound,” guiding the listener through “landscapes of imagination with a haunting, phantom-like quality.”
This is electroacoustic / musique concrète music, balancing on the edge of improvisation and composition, where every sound carries intentional weight—both organic and metaphysical.
Who is it for?
- Fans of experimental music, electroacoustics, musique concrète, and ambient.
- Listeners intrigued by the meeting point of classical piano and analog manipulation.
- Vinyl collectors who value high-fidelity recordings (home studio + analog mastering).
✨ L’ivresse transfigurée is an intimate and hypnotic dialogue between the piano and reel-to-reel tape. It’s a journey through distorted echoes, reflections of minimalist phrasing, and sonic landscapes where acoustic elegance intertwines with electroacoustic abstraction.
Is it an album for immersive, reflective nights? Absolutely — for those seeking a deep, transgressive listening experience.
