XI CODES Festival of Traditional and Avant-Garde Music
The Festival of Tradition and Avant-Garde Music CODES is a core project organized by the Center for Intercultural Creative Initiatives CROSSROADS and one of the most unique music events in Poland.
During the festival, outstanding composers of contemporary music meet great instrumentalists, traditional musicians and talented artists reconstructing archaic music traditions, in order to seek new music meanings and take artistic risks together.
The majority of projects presented during the festival are premiere works. This year’s edition will also feature unique events that would recreate a diverse musical landscape, inspired by the metaphor of the Tower of Babel – the tension between global and local, central and peripheral, cultural mainstream and aesthetic minorities.
