From October 1 to 5, the international festival Sexual Theatre. Feminist Reading of Classics took place in Zenica as part of a project carried out within the framework of the Creative Europe Programme.
The event was attended by Barbara Żarinow, theatre curator and producer from the Intercultural Creative Initiatives Centre “Rozdroża” in Lublin.

The project brought together artists and researchers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, Montenegro, and France. Through residencies and international collaboration, they created performances that reinterpret classic literary texts from their countries — presenting them through the lens of contemporary women’s experiences.

The programme featured four performances, meetings with the creators, and a presentation of a publication summarizing the project.
The festival became a space for exchanging ideas, reflecting on the role of women in culture, and exploring new forms of theatrical language.

Participation in the event offered an opportunity to learn about current European trends in feminist theatre and intercultural dialogue — values that resonate strongly with the vision of the European Capital of Culture 2029.
